Charlottesville Cake Smash

We have been waiting for the day…the day when little, itty bitty newborn Drew, would turn 1 year old, and leave us with no further doubt…there is no way this can be the same baby.  I mean, do you remember??  A tiny newborn?  We followed up with a 3 month photoshoot, and were already flabbergasted at how large Drew was then.  Again for our 7 month photoshoot…did this baby EAT the previous one?  HOW could he have grown so much?  9 months, we thought, MAYBE he was slowing down just the tiniest bit?

Well, he finally hit 1.  And he just keeps…getting…BIGGER!  🙂

I managed to get to their house just a bit before Drew woke up, and we did some nursing photos.  Remember, if you want some for your memories, I am glad to provide.  Nursing my daughter as a baby continues to be a great memory…I wish I had photos!

After Drew was fed and relaxed, we got down to our photoshoot!  We had a few comparison photos to do, including one of Drew with his mama (you can see the newborn and 7 month photo in this post for comparison!).

After a few extra shots, we got down to business…the best part of a 1 Year old photoshoot:  The CAKE SMASH!!

Drew’s mom made the cake…it was an “ombre” style.  We styled the scene to match the colors of Drew’s room…this way they can make for a great photo-spread in his room, and match the decor!

He wasn’t sure at first what he was supposed to do…here is is glancing at him mom, probably thinking, “Am I actually allowed to do this?”

Again, his expression, so cute!  He was really not sure what he was supposed to do!

But, he got down to business, had some fun playing, and ate a few pieces.

It didn’t last long before he was ready to bolt and move on (probably to pulling down the pennant banner in the back!).

I am so sad to have “finished” our 1 year photo sessions, but will be excited to continue to see that tiny 5 lb+ baby grow up!
