Nora | Charlottesville 1 Year Photographer
I was so pleasantly surprised to hear from Aileen, the mother of a little girl I had photographed a few years ago…to schedule a 1 year session for her second little girl, Nora!
Her big sister, Olivia, was also 1 year old when we put together a session for her, back on a cold day in January.ย Her mom brought the same green chair she had used in Olivia’s session for Nora (a family heirloom), along with a few stuffed animals and toys that Nora loved.ย Nora did not disappoint, she was just as adorable as her big sister was at that age.ย Olivia stayed at school for the day, so we got to concentrate on letting this little girl have some time on her own.
I have a bunch of rompers and diaper covers in my studio “stash”, and this mauve lace romper is one of my favorites.ย Pink without being TOO pink, I always say!ย ๐
One year olds always have such fun personality, as well as completely unpredictable level of gross motor skills, and you will NEVER know what a session will be like until it happens.ย My daughter was slower paced, so at one year, she wasn’t walking yet.ย But she was crawling, and I’m not sure what’s easier to contain.ย So every 1 year session is often a “catch and release”…where parent acts as the herder, and I direct, “Okay, put her down!” and quickly press that shutter to get a few shots before she wanders from the backdrop.
Sometimes, setting them far at the back to give me a “running” start, ha!
With our child session, we provide a backdrop change, and Aileen chose a gorgeous blue to go with this adorable dress.
After a bit, we didn’t need too many stuffed animals or toys for Nora to enjoy the attention.ย ๐
And now, for my favorite.ย Aileen wanted a photo of Olivia lined up with her stuffed animals, and with her brilliant idea of putting a little sticker right in front to keep her seated for a hot minute.ย There’s nothing I love more than a little baby bum.ย <3
So, she really wanted to replicate that shot with Nora.ย So she brought a couple of the same players, and I’m so excited that we got just the same shot as above.ย I had to show this one, though, where Nora looked over her shoulder with her impish smile.
Thanks again to Aileen for coming out to the studio!ย I have some of the best repeat clients, and it’s a lot of fun watching their little ones grow, and meeting the new babes as well!
