Sweet Newborn Girl | Charlottesville Newborn Photography
I don’t know what it is, but it seems like newborn girls so rarely cross my photography path lately!ย It’s been boys, boys, boys around here, that it’s a pleasant surprise when I hear from someone contacting me about their baby girl being due!ย Imagine my excitement with Carolyn dropped me a line about her baby girl soon to arrive.
I present:ย Olivia!ย My second Olivia of the year, albeit the first was for a 1 year photoshoot, so maybe that will be another common theme.ย ๐
Check out the cute bunny above…this is my newest favorite little prop from Etsy.
Olivia has a darling older brother, Connor, who was so cute and excited about his little sister.
What a gorgeous family…I am truly happy to have gotten to meet Carolyn and gab with her while we did Olivia’s photoshoot…we had such a great time!
We had actually scheduled the day before, but Carolyn had an incredible headache she had to rush to the doctor to treat.ย Thank goodness it turned out to be nothing serious, but they got it under control (yay for good pain meds!) and we rescheduled for the next day.ย I mention this especially because I want all parents to know:ย if they feel sick (other than the normal post-baby ills from childbirth, or lack of sleep, etc.), or anyone in their family is ill as well, I certainly would rather reschedule than push through.ย I thought about it…should we just go ahead and I’ll work with Olivia while Carolyn rests?ย And then I thought that was a dumb idea…a baby photoshoot should be fun for everyone involved!ย It was the best decision to make, and really paid off in having a relaxed, happy mama there to help out, and enjoy it all!
An…a photoshoot is a great time to catch up on one’s sleep, according to Olivia.ย ๐ย And this goes for the parents, too…a photoshoot could be a good time for a nap, ha!ย But not for Carolyn, she & I had a great time while sweet Olivia napped.
We tried to incorporate a bit of teal and soft pinks throughout, as well as nice neutrals.
And a turquoise really pops against those beautiful little newborn features!
I always love to capture their small details:
Her hair just made me so happy.
And yup, that bunny had to make a couple appearances.ย ๐
Many thanks to Carolyn, Tyler, big brother Connor, and of course, little Olivia.ย I am so grateful to have met you all and taken these first portraits of your new little girl!

These are so amazing!! So creative and what variety! I am jealous of all of the gorgeous blankets in the baskets; I’d love to know where you found them!
Christie, I actually made most of those layers in the baskets…not the printed scarf or the blue scarf, but all the knit layers (and the burlap layers) I crocheted. I made that nest, too, and put some little faux flowers in it. I SWEAR I’m not that crafty by nature, but I get into newborn props for some reason. ๐
