A 1 Year Girl on a Cold Winter Day | Charlottesville, Virginia Cake Smash
Do you have a baby born in the middle of winter?
Think you can’t get any portraits until the spring, when the flowers bloom and the grass is green?ย Oh, shush.ย Don’t you worry.ย We can bring spring inside.
On a cold, rainy day, I got to meet Baby Olivia and take her 1 year portraits.
Studio-style shoots can be a ton of fun…it is easy to bring over favorite toys or props (this rocking chair is a family favorite):
Quick changes of clothes and re-attachment of bows:
And of course, a little froufrou decoration in the background, for an Easter-feel!
Of course, we have a lot of fun rolling around & singing songs.
And the occasional Pinterest-inspired shoot with favorite stuffed animals:
But the best end to a 1-year studio-style shoot is…drum roll…
The cake smash!!
We styled the colors to match the banner that Olivia’s parents used for her first birthday party just the week before.ย Some fun primary colors really set off this gorgeous girl.
Olivia wasn’t super-duper into the cake, and a very dainty eater, but still made enough of a mess for fun.
It never fails…the cake-topper is often the most fun thing for a curious 1-year-old during a cake smash.
A nice chunk missing and then it was bath & naptime.ย Many thanks to Olivia’s mom for having me come over dragging many boxes of paper and equipment!ย ๐ย I hope you enjoy these images for years to come!
