Newborn Boy | Charlottesville Virginia

Baby Charlie was not such a little boy…he was pushing on 9 pounds, and I know his mama…she’s tiny.  She’s a fellow interior designer, and we’ve known one another for at least a decade.  That really hasn’t nothing to do with her being tiny, but still.  8 lbs 12 oz?  Seriously, didn’t he get the memo?  Newborns are supposed to come sized to fit their mom.  😉  However, I loooove a big baby for newborn portraiture!

Well, either way, he was still as tiny & cute as anything.  His big “brother”, Hudson, helped with the photoshoot.

Thank goodness for Charlie’s grandma, Kathy, who helped get Hudson’s attention.  And just all around ROCKED.  She told me she used to be a kindergarten teacher, and her husband had a photography studio…and I deemed the sweetest mother-in-law that ever lived!  I definitely could imagine her as a kindergarten teacher.  Such patience and sweetness, I think Charlie is in great hands!

See, tiny, beautiful mom Jennifer!  Charlie was not a super-sleeper for me…he was completely content, and he did sleep.  But, after a few shots, I would move him, and he was wide awake again.  But totally into looking around.  That EYE contact was unbelievable!

Well, except when he was sleeping.  🙂

OH, sweet newborn lips!

So, I did get him to sleep some!  Until he was WIDE awake, that is!  This shot, the basket I used is almost an exact match for the pattern of the rug in Charlie’s nursery.  However, at this point, there was no use trying to get him to sleep.  But I love to see newborns and their expressions…I am still flabbergasted by how intent and focused Charlie was.

And on a side note, Charlies’ dad, Pete, went to the same grade school Piper goes to, and his sister was in school with my husband.  If anyone doubts Charlottesville is a small town, I tell you!  It IS!
